All I have to say is that if one did not have a healthy does of self esteem, you should not be hanging around this gorgeous gal! Everywhere we went to photograph, ”gentlemens” could NOT resist coming up to us making appreciative compliments. In my head, I was thinking ”Heeellllo! I ain’t chicken liver here” but I guess I would be compare to her… hahaha.
Other than suffering a little bruised ego, we had such a wicked awesome day shooting!
And what I love most about this portrait session is that it is spontaneous, free flowing, and truly celebrates the essence and prime of her life. When Lailah asked me to photograph her session, I was truly surprised and very honored as she is a great photographer herself. So we planned for a few locations and the weather was really perfect with the sun peaking in and out at times.
We headed down to downtown Santa Cruz for a few urban shots and were greeted with lots of admiring gazes.

As we head down to the beach, there were waves of cat calls coming out of the water. One particular young surfer was so bold to come and ask if he could help us. It was truly so comical and I wished I would have taken him up on his offer and used his surfboard as a prop or something. That would have been fun but I don’t think Lailah’s husband would appreciate the little connection.![]()

I had such as amazing time and what made the day for me is when Lailah turned to me and said, ” You know when you always hear from your grandmas and aunts bragging about how they use to be so fabulous and gorgeous back in the hay day? Well, Now I have something to show for it.” Bless your heart girl! Thanks for the awesome day!
