Earlier this week I was at WPPI Convention in Las Vegas. This is one of the worlds largest Portrait and Wedding Photographers conventions, featuring many classes offered from world reknown celebrity photographers and one of the largest photography vendor trade shows. There were over 12,000 photographers that week, it was crazy to say the least. Lines for the classes were insane, seeming to stretch for miles. Most of the popular classes had to turn away people simply because of there were not enough room and also for fire safety regulations.
For the 2 1/2 days that I was there, I would wake up at 6 am in the morning rushing to wait in line for the 8 am classes. Now I am not a morning person plus I simply am not one of those people that can sleep in a bed that’s not mine. Can you say excruciating insomnia?! And I really missed my kids.
But you know what? I would do it again ten folds if I could hear Jesh de Rox speak again.
If you don’t know who Jesh De Rox is, please go visit his site and blog and you’ll understand why.
I have NEVER…. never been so profoundly touched, enlightened and inspired by anyone such as him. This class is not about technique or marketing but simply to the core of what photography is about: making people feel. Whether it’s love, passion, sadness, loneliess…..it speaks to all of us. The many facets of life captured.
The whole audience of close to 1000 people were moved to tears. Moved…to…Tears. Yes even the men there. I was crying my eyes out throughout the presentation. You just can’t help to feel the depth of his passion piercing into your soul. And he is outrageously funny too! I came out of that room forever changed.

Jesh played his own moving song during the slideshow towards the end of the presentation. Standing Ovation from everyone.
Thank you Jesh De Rox for making me see more. You were the highlight of WPPI, much blesshings to you.

Today was a very special treat! My friend Lailah who is such an awesome photographer came up to San Francisco for a visit and we had a fun little photo session with my daughter. She was not into at first willing to play but once she saw those balloons and huge lollipop, she was in!
Who knew that Fog can be so beautiful?! I love the dreamy quality it brings to the photos and these were all shot near high noon time which is a time most photographers try to avoid shooting in. But the fog really help diffused the light so beautifully. We were so lucky to capture this lovely mist before it dissipated.

Have a Wonderful weekend!

Sorry for the delay, I had major server issues yesterday and today and just manage to get this blog posted now. As I mentioned a few days ago, the 2nd half of the French Twist Workshop with Leah Profancik is with Joy Vertz of Shoot the Moon Photography. She really is a business woman extraordinaire and you will learn so much about the knitty gritty of how to price, market and sell your work to it’s fullest potential. Read all about her here. She is amazing! She also develop the first iphone App for photographers and I’m so excited to perhaps implement this in the future. It’s a brilliant concept, wish I had thought of it first!
Here are some of my favorite images taken on the streets of San Luis Obisp. These girls were so awesome! They withstood the rain and cold to get us these shots. I don’t think my kids will ever behave as well as they do. They are so professional! Thank you Girls!

And then finally Have a Wonderful Valentines Day Weekend! Did you know that this year Chinese New Year falls on Valentine’s Day? Isn’t it sweet to get red envelopes and also some candy?! So to the Asian community out there, “Gong Hay Fat Choy!”

I have an amazing time this weekend at Leah Profancik’s workshop in San Luis Obispo. Not only is she amazingly talented but the most GENUINE and approachable person. She even let me borrow her memory card when I left mines in the car, isn’t that just the nicest thing?! Perhaps that is why people connect so well to her work. You will see that she has a huge following of her work on flickr and on her blog. It is simply BEAUTIFUL! I had so much fun learning and had a chance to meet some really awesome fellow photographers there.
The workshop consist of two parts; One part was Creative with Leah and the other part was about the business / marketing side taught by Joy Vertz of Shoot the Moon Photography. Joy is FANTASTIC! A super talented photographer but a even more successful business owner. Can you imagine at this economy her business still flourishing? Will blog more about her tomorrow but for today I will share some pictures taken on the gorgeous hills of San Luis Obispo.
Please check back tomorrow for Part II of the shoot which was shot in Urban settings and some insights about Joy Vertz’s Business workshop.

As we give thanks over this weekend, my baby will be 2 years old! How DOES the time fly by?! I guess when you’re busy like me trying to balance a family life and a photography career, there is hardly anytime to just stop and breathe. So, you have to remind your self to just stop and capture these fleeting moments as much as you can. Because once you know it, they won’t be children anymore.

There are so many things and people to be thankful for this year, especially my family and dear friends. For without their patience, support, and understanding, my life wouldn’t be as enriched and colorful as it is now!
Thank you.
And to my little darling girl, Happy Birthday! I hope you will grow out of your terrible two’s soon!
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Hope you are sharing it the ones who truly love and care about you!
